We needed the new players to get a sense of how Mo worked behind the scenes. He is a role model they can try to emulate.
Had we replaced him, I dont think the season would have turned out much differently. I dont think there was anyone available in his position that would have been able to change the way the team has played.
It's a shame that he has used the press and socials to destabilise things. Whether people agree with his view or not, it's unprofessional to go public with stuff like that. He should have spoken to his colleagues in private.
But as you said, it will be forgotten in time. His legacy cannot be taken away from him. He has been too good and brought too much joy.
I am Swedish, but never a Zlatan fan he is way too much star, not a team player, with a terrible arrogance.
I have never been a big Salah fan but I have admired his incredible skills. However, I got tired of him last year with his ridiculous pressure campaign to get a new generous contract. But after his very well planned interview, “thrown under the bus”, I started to dislike the former star who had forgotten he had team mates…Now he is destroying even more his reputation after his latest Instagram post. Very happy that he is finally leaving.
So I guess I am a fan who really like team players, not arrogant team destroying stars.
'When I left Dortmund, I said it's not important what people think when you come in but what they think when you leave.' Jürgen Klopp.
Great article Beez with some lovely graphics.
If I'm honest I think his conduct has been totally unforgiveable with his outbursts since December, especially in this season of all seasons with all the context around Jota, injuries and bad luck. He's a senior player and instead of showing leadership to help the club, when clearly the crowd has been frustrated, he's weaponised that against LFC, and Slot in particular. It's come across as selfish and entitled.
He seems to forget that LFC made him and without us he may never have made the stellar progress and become a global superstar.
He's leaving but happy to undermine the club in his wake.
It's a real shame as he was a brilliant player for us and key to our golden era, but for me I don't think I can see past that and his reputation has been forever tarnished.
I may be in the minority, which I understand, but I'll be glad when his toxicity has left the club. He may continue to drop barbs from afar once he's gone, but hopefully it will have limited impact.
I do hope you're right though, and in time I forget the last few months of his conduct, instead remembering the sheer joy he gave us so many times.
The outburst in December really annoyed me. He was deservedly dropped for poor performance. The current one doesn't bother me as much as it's the end of the season and he's leaving regardless but it is utterly unnecessary too.
Poignant article, along with the usual interesting stats and visuals - thank you. I feel very fortunate to have witnessed Mo's LFC career in the relatively short (11 years) time I've been a follower.
I'm not his biggest fan, his snubbing of us to join Chelsea left a bad taste in my mouth but maybe it was the setback needed for him to prosper later in his career.
I have huge admiration for him and am grateful for what he's delivered but, for me, any connection with Chelsea taints that connection.
Truth be told, I didn't overly mind his outbursts, they were designed to increase his pay in the last chance he had of getting a big contract. I didn't like it but I could see how he was leveraging his position.
Where to from here for the club, though, that's my concern. Superstars come and go but the club continues on.
I wanted to mess around with a few different visualisations and Mohamed Salah provides more fodder for them than just about anybody else.
The big question is: with hindsight, should Liverpool have let him go last season? And imagine the reaction if they had!!
With hindsight I'd say no.

The thing with the current missives is he can see sections of the fanbase are turning on Slot and adding fuel to that fire.
I hope it dies down over summer 🤞

I doubt we'll ever see his like again.

Best of luck, Mo, it's been great having you.
