Liverpool's loss at Old Trafford was as frustrating as it was unsurprising. The Reds have been better than you think at some things this season, worse than you know at others.

It also corresponds to an area for Arne to focus in pre-season, i.e. mentality. That starts with him, reducing the length of his public explanations while eliminating the multiple excuses that, while they are real contributing factors, does no good to highlight, e.g. time-wasting, VAR/refereeing, opponents tactics, # matches, injuries.
His players have the same responsibility. Virgil is the captain and needs to demonstrate concentration (no switching off) & taking accountability when you didn't or for your own errors. Ditto to the broader veteran XI leadership group: Ali, Ibou, Alex, Dom, Macca, Cody. Arne & these leading players need to be the ones who act to establish the team culture.
Liverpool's high turnover goal tally should probably be even higher. I'm fairly certain that they've had at least 10 high turnovers this season in which they didn't even produce a shot on goal due to a poor pass after regaining possession.
Hopefully, that is one additional area in which they'll improve next season when the voodoo curse afflicting this season has expired.
Yes, 19.0% of Liverpool's 263 high turnovers have led to a shot, with the 50 shots producing 10 goals. Only Chelsea (watch out on Saturday!) with 23.8% and Man City (20.1%) have been more efficient.
So, there is room for improvement, but not as much as I'd assumed. I guess that the pain of missing out on a good scoring chance through an errant pass is probably more memorable than shots that were saved or went awry.
Reviewing that table, it struck me that half the league are gegenpressers now, and the other half are trying to get there. From memory, I think that Klopp's Liverpool teams from roughly 2017 to 2020 were around 10.0-11.9 PPDA, and 9 clubs including LFC are in that range this season. Football is ruthless -- all successful tactics are borrowed in short order.
