Not the economy. Liverpool's expected goal difference has declined since 2024/25. No shock there but the attack being more to blame than the defence is a surprise.
Yeah that's interesting - best figure of his career for that even though he was less important in open play chance creation than years past. And as much as he got Liverpool up the pitch, he didn't supply Salah with many assist or pre-assist key passes.
Oh, his best by far. I guess for me (and of course YMMV) the Big Chances thing is not such a big deal. In the PL, the team has scored 17 non-penalty goals from a NPxG of 17. We're just not creating enough xG.
Good stuff Beez. As a snapshot its not a huge surprise even if losing so many games is (there should be an article on fine margins, fake refs but that’s covered elsewhere). I think Hughes is looking at Michael Olise, who would be the third Bundesliga player to come in to our attack but this time with a lot of PL experience. Salah’s time is much closer to the end but not in a negative way or down to these nunbers. If we get a decent fee it would suit both sides even if we start clicking in the next month or two.
Olise would be great. There are rumours about Semenyo too. The interesting thing is that the end of the Salah era will feel like a chance to change system, especially with the other players that they’ve bought recently.
We're so immersed in the current quagmire the squad Hughes and Slot have is one of the best in living memory with more to come. And I think a change of system will come. That’s where the analysis should be headed 🙂
Was just saying on BS that Trent's on-off xG last year was a staggering +.84 :(
