Lovely. Reading this now, ten years on, you realise how much of Liverpool’s transformation was rooted less in tactics or transfers than in that cultural reset. Although the tactics (and players) played a huge part!

The “doubters to believers” line has been replayed to the point of cliché, but this reminds you why it mattered; his wasn’t a slogan but was a diagnosis. Klopp understood the psychology of the club before he’d even managed a match.

Absolutely. There is no way on Earth that Brendan Rodgers was taking the 2015/16 side to the Europa League final. But with a little more belief and a few tactical tweaks, that's where they got. It's probably an underrated achievement given the state of things when Klopp came in.

Still believe that if UEFA hadn't bundled the Sakho case Liverpool would have won that final.

Excellent read Andrew. Still gets me emotional. As a 56 yr old Liverpool supporter, I thought crying to my mum, asking her ‘why Kevin Keegan didn’t like Liverpool anymore’? Or Kenny leaving, or Torres ( although that got me emotional in all the wrong ways, threw his autobiography on the fire pit) would be the peak emotions experienced. But seeing the notifications, sure it was a wind up, checking twitter and seeing that video, hit me as close as any family member would. Strange experience as an adult

Cheers, Mark. I know what you mean, it was a real sense of shock and disbelief when the news broke. When you think what Klopp was up against in relative terms at all three of his clubs, it seems miraculous he lasted as long as he did at all three. There's no point me trying to hide my bias but it's why he's better than Guardiola for me, as he hasn't had perfect circumstances handed to him on a plate at each club.
