More worryingly our centre backs when defending long balls make poor headers which are invariably picked up by the opposition midfielders while our midfield is nowhere to be seen, should have stuck with 4-4-2 until confidence is restored and a bit more solidarity all round
I remember you and Josh W citing our xG dominance early last season as a reliable indicator that we were in a great position to win the league. It feels like we're miles away from 'winning the xG' at the moment, let alone whining games and league titles!
I think we are having hard lines to an extent, but Slot has got to find a way of preventing us from giving up so many chances. We're in the territory now of needing to just not lose, which is depressing, but necessary if we're going to turn the ship and successfully secure top 4.
Forget the league title (😔) and prepare for a Champions League run. Up the reds.
Yes, Liverpool’s xG difference per game is currently +0.47 when champions are usually +1 or better.
It’s not horrendous. If you look at a range of +0.4 to +0.5 there have been three instances of a team finishing top three since 2017, another two finishing fifth. And Liverpool have played a lot of tough games so it could improve. But it’s very much top four fight rather than title level, with confidence beyond low and pressure growing every week.
Teams know we are slow starters and seize the opportunity to strike early while we ponce around in own half. Why move Szabo to right back when Jogo on the bench then bring Jogo on. Thank god for Szabo a few others should take a leaf out of his book not naming names but they know who they are
I'm finding our weakness at set pieces concerning, considering we apparently now have a specialised coach on this? Or does defending throws not come under his purview?
Disjointed, distracted, hesitant, lack of connection between and within lines, it looks a bit of a mess atm. And Slot seems unable to conjure the same magic that he used so effectively last season.
Not sure who’s responsible for coaching the defensive end but it’s interesting that Arsenal have a bad record at defending them when they’re so good at attacking them. Two different skills, ultimately.
Had to get this one out so I can hopefully sleep tonight and forget about this horrorshow...

2nd balls are hugely important, we're finding to our cost.

Looks like this is going to be a long season.
