"See what happens when you actually run at a defence, Reds? More please." ☺️

On the plus side, two of our forwards scored a goal, both assisted by fullbacks.

Funnily enough, Frimpong was robbed for an official assist by a defender touch just as he was at Tottenham. But yeah, he’s in form which is great.

Seems a random ruling.

Nico Gonzalez shot in our defeat against City wasn’t (rightly) ruled an own goal, so weren’t many other deflected shots. Against Sunderland, if Noni Madueke would have kicked the ball against Wirtz, it’s an own goal. However, Wirtz takes the shot, it deflects but it’s still his action not Madueke‘s.

Would love to know the six other incredible shots that were even greater than yesterday’s.

I would always take these with a grain of salt as single shot xG figures are so variable, with post shot xG (at least seeming to me) even more questionable. Nonetheless, here are the top six:

0.79 - Gabriel Martinelli at Anfield in April 2023

0.78 - Murillo at Anfield recently

0.75 - Zaha at Anfield in August 2022 (the Nunez red card game)

0.75 - Thijs Dallinga at Toulouse (I have no memory of this!)

0.73 - Danny Ings at Southampton in Jan 2021

0.73 - Dom Solanke at Anfield on the day Liverpool won the league

None of these is a belter in the sense of the Reed goal. It appears they all had relatively low value chances and placed them perfectly, presumably in the corner of the goal.

You are so right. I thought it would be littered with screamers, like Reed’s.

But the Martinelli one is but a toe-poke into the corner.

I know i should be some bit angry over dropping 2 points to a late equaliser but that shot was just so sweetly struck that I just can't.

I'll appreciate it eventually, just not yet ;-)
