Who Is Samed Yesil?
Samed Yesil has today signed for Liverpool, moving to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen. The young German striker will no doubt bide his time in the reserves to begin with, but the sight of fellow eighteen year old Adam Morgan in the line-up for the Reds match with Hearts tonight will no doubt give him some encouragement that he can make a first team bow sooner rather than later. As I had not heard of him previously myself, I looked up his figures on Transfrmarkt.
In all competitions at various youth and reserve levels, he has scored 79 goals and provided 23 assists in just 106 appearances.
Having played 7,831 minutes in total, this means he has scored or assisted a goal every 76.8 minutes, which is impressive whatever level you play at.
Although the above site does not have details on all of his goals, they suggest he is right-footed and something of a poacher; of the 26 goals they have info on, nine (34.6%) were right-footed strikes, four (15.4%) were tap-ins, with three headers, three penalties and a left foot effort making up the numbers.
Whilst there's no way to know if he will make the grade at Anfield, with the fee believed to be around £1m, he certainly appears to be an exciting prospect who is worth a punt at a reasonable price.
Welcome to Liverpool, Samed.
