Very nice resume of Arne Slot debut season. Bodes well for the future.

The fact that City are actually worse is confirming my bias towards them. It is nice to be proven right once in 5 seasons. Thank you for that 😉

De Zerbi‘s Marseille being behind 3rd and 4th place on xGD/90 as 2nd in Ligue1 seems to be a curious case. They achieved +27 goal difference with an xG of 65.1 (3rd) and xGA of 46.0 (13th). Will be an interesting opponent in next year‘s CL.

A quick look at their numbers suggests part of their success was having six players who were at least 1.2 above their non-penalty xG. Man City once had nine and Liverpool had eight in 2019/20 so it's possible to have more, but good things probably happen if you have a bunch of players above par.
