I can see us go all-in on a false 9 /advanced playmaker profile. Prio 1 should be Wirtz who is very likely to move this summer now that Alonso is leaving Leverkusen. Leverkusen are offering a contract extension with a release clause active in 2028, but he did not sign. Data and eye test confirm that he is world class.
Otherwise, I can see Charles De Ketelaere or Morgan Rogers work for us in that role.
All of them offer a high level of threat, vision, running power, counterpressing and tactical flexibility.

Key metrics I used were SCA (Live-ball Pass), key passes, through balls, dribbles challenged,tackles (Att 3rd), carries into penalty area, successful take-ons. Would love to get some data on pressures, but saw a snapshot making the rounds for pressures and pressure regains and Wirtz was just shy of the elite quarter. From the eye test, De Ketelaere and Rogers would probably do well in that category.

Villa don't press much but they do so with the second best success rate in the division. Rogers is down at the bottom of the PL for possession-adjusted pressures for players with a decent sample of game time, though that would appear tactical instruction rather than evidence that he can't press more. I like him a lot, good player.
This probably isn't that much of a problem when nobody is massively underachieving... but it feels ripe for improvement.
