that was a tough watch ... they marked our only goal threat out of the match and neither outside forward was able to dribble or create or shoot (1 hopeless shot from Cody between them).

Arne & the players have solidified the defense but, if Hugo or Florian don't score and we don't get a chance from a smart midfield run, we don't look like scoring.

The opposition threat-level graph is incredible for our second half share - probably required reading for online Slot-haters who want to hammer the entire performance!

I'm pretty agnostic on Slot staying or going but if he should get credit for the 2nd half performance, he should also get criticised for the first half?

And Hughes certainly has to be questioned about the squad he's provided to Slot as much as Slot has to be questioned about the use he's made of the squad that he does have.

Either way, 3 points are 3 points and we're one game closer to actually playing well again.

Yes, that's fair, Noel. And absolutely Richard Hughes too. I just am convinced that the sooner a club fires a manager (often to appease restless fans) the quicker they become frustrated with the next guy. I take guidance from Andrew Beasley and Paul Tomkins because they inform themselves about the bigger picture and use data to assess hidden trends and outcomes.

I found Jamie Carragher interesting, fair and honest in his summary of Liverpool's match today: https://youtu.be/U86C_JcJX-k?si=SqdCVb9p6ISsKc22 on YouTube

That was much better than his 'biggest robbery' comment at full time!

I admire your calm analysis of such an infuriating performance.

Lucky for us, the smartest play of the game resulted in our goal. And it was Joe Gomez with a mind game. He played on Forrest’s expectation of a long throw-in into the box, positioned himself for exactly that outside the pitch, only to surprise everyone with an early throw short to Szoboszlai which in turn gave him a 1v1 against their winger to deliver the successful cross. Gomez my man of the match.
